My cursor stops blinking while I am typing. When that happens, my mouse and keyboard become inactive - I can type but nothing appears on screen. If I click the mouse everything returns to normal. This occurs in all programs and. I have windows XP and run MS Word. It is very annoying to enter figures and discover only the last 2 digits were actually entered or only part of a word. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Are you using USB mouse and keyboard or the older style PS2 .
If you are using the older style it may be worth trying USB. |

It sounds like the window you have open (for example Word) is losing focus. By this, I mean that the application you are working on has become inactive, and another application you have installed running in the background has taken focus away from what you were workin on.
Only one application can have focus at any time. And, it's easy to tell which one has focus, and which windows are inactive by the colour of the title bar. Next time this happens, notice the change in the title bar, and see what happens when you click on it so that you can start typing again. |

Hey all, Thanks for your replies. I'm still having the problem after replacing all the batteries. I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse that I bought as a pair some time ago. I'll be glad when it goes back to normal. This is a constant problem that happens about every twenty seconds. I need to keep clicking the mouse in order to type text. What a mystery!

My cursor stops blinking while I am typing. When that happens, my mouse and keyboard become inactive - I can type but nothing appears on screen. This happens constantly about every 20 seconds whether I'm typing or not. This occurs in all programs. I have windows XP. It is very annoying to be typing only to find a few words appear. There is sort of a quick blink on the screen and I need to left click to be able to type. It's not the keyboard or mouse because I tried different ones and had the same problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I thought would add another comment. For some reason, my screen saver never comes on. It's set 15 minutes. In fact, none of the power settings work. The monitor is set to shut off after 2 hours. It was on all night and never shut off. I double checked all my settings. Hmmm... maybe this is related.. Last edited by starbuk95; 10-25-2008 at 03:34 PM. Reason: new info |
