I had a problem with booting. i got the message that windows could not start up because windows/system32/config/system was missing or corrupt. so i looked for some guides on how to fix this and they said enter recovery mode using the XP installaton cd. i tried this but after files have loaded instead of getting the options to install, enter recovery mode or quit i get asked about partitioned and unpartitioned space. it says ;
to set up windows XP on the selected item, press ENTER.
to create a partiton in the unpartitioned space, press C.
to delete selected partition, press D.
the partitions are; C: Partition1 [NTFS] 194466 MB (105996 MB free)
unpartitioed space 8 MB
so does anyone know how i can get into recovery mode from his and fix the original problem? or does this mean something on my computer is beyond repair?

Hi docdaneeka
May I ask what type of Windows XP CD you are using ? Is it a retail copy an OEM copy or are you using a vendor supplied recovery installation CD ? |
