Windows XP/2000 - Bootvis posted in the Operating Systems forums; I've seen this mentioned a few times recently. As there any opinions for or against or maybe? (XP Home SP3 is the target)...

I have used it before, and there was a decrease in boot time. I also found that once I defragged the computer the few seconds I gained with Bootvis disappeared.

I'm quite happy with the boot times I have at the moment, 35 seconds on the AMD 6000 box, and about 30 seconds on the AMD 3200 box.

Microsoft pulled the utility from their website as well a fair while ago...

Bootvis is available at Major Geeks here: |MG| BootVis 1.3.37.0

If I remember rightly it sits in it's own folder that you can put anywhere as it does not install.

You just run it from there and let it do it's thing...

No worries mate, but you do get get the choice of committing to the changes that Bootvis will make permanent after a restart.

So the onus falls back on you then...

Just a quick note if I can't get back to this site 'tis because Arctos has given me the Onus.

If I do get back I shall pass the Onus on.

Mind you I'll not be doing anything 'til Sunday
