Exclamation Desktop Wallpaper Position HELP!

Hi guys,

I was wondering if you guys could help me out. There is some problem with setting the desktop wallpaper position (center, tile, stretch) on my windows xp. Whenever I set the wallpaper position to center or tile, it will *automatically* change to stretch position after 8-9 minutes. I am not sure why it changes to stretch after a certain time when i have set it to center or tile.

I have had this issue for some time now, but i have no idea how to fix it! i need yr help!!

thank you in advance.

Hi wkwok68 - Welcome to PCHF!!

Have you ever had any automatic background changing software on your pc?

If so it may not have been removed properly from your pc which could be causing the problem.

Please let me know the name of the software you installed if this is the case.

Otherwise it could possibly be caused by malware. Please complete the prework in the link below and attach the logs to this thread so that our security staff can check them for you.

Hi Diire,

You are right. i installed a wallpaper, Beautiful Earth wallpaper to decorate my desktop. I didn't really like it so I removed it using their uninstallation, then it said something like couldn't remove some of the files and that i need it to remove it from the registry.

Please try the following to manually remove Beautiful Earth from your pc.

Create a System Restore point. To do this click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Go into Task Manager - to do this press CTRL+ALT+DEL
Under the processes tab - look for Beautiful Earth.exe
If it is listed highlight and click End Process > Click Yes to confirm

In Windows Explorer go to the following folder:
C:\program files\beautiful earth
Delete the entire Beautiful Earth folder

Click Start > Run > type: regedit
Go to the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
On the right delete the key GGwallpaper - right click > select Delete

Also check the following and if the GGwallpaper exists there delete it from there too.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

Click File > Exit - to exit registry editor. Reboot your pc and hopefully Beautiful Earth will be gone and your background shouldn't resize anymore.

Please post back if the above does not fix the problem.
