Default Can't install XP on a SATA HDD?

I bought a new PC last sunday with a SATA HDD installed and it came with Vista HP... anyway I want to dual boot XP and Vista but XP install wont detect my SATA HDD... I havent got the floppy disk for the SATA drivers and havent even got a Floppy drive :S Tried looking on my products homepage but no driver downloads there either

any ideas?

I have a IDE Slave HDD connected all goes well untill it reboots but when i reboot onto that HDD it comes up saying:

Windows cannot start because this file is either missing or corrupt:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hal.dll

any ideas on how to resolve this?

Have you used Vista disk management and partitioned the drive?
