Windows XP/2000 - pc logs on the off again posted in the Operating Systems forums; hi all pc heads,can anyone help??(hope so)well,what happens is when i turn on my pc it loads to the stage that my desk top picture appears but no icons or ...

Default pc logs on the off again

hi all pc heads,can anyone help??(hope so)well,what happens is when i turn on my pc it loads to the stage that my desk top picture appears but no icons or start button then it saves all my settings then it goes back to the user log in page....any help would be very useful ......

Hey Guys,

@ rollar, my welcome to PCHF as well. Sounds like you have an infection. Have you tried getting into Safe Mode? At boot up costantly tap the F8 key until the startup menu appears, use your arrow keys to choose Safe Mode or Safe Mode w/ Networking and hit Enter.

If you can get there, and you can get to the internet, please follow the instructions for PreWork from my signature, and post the resulting logs back here. If you are not able to get them from that PC, can you please burn the exe file for Malwarebytes to a CD, and install it that way.

hi mi lady!
thanks for the help but my pc wont let me start in safe mode..ive even tried reinstalling windows but it doesnt even seem to read the disc.can you tell me what you mean by-- "can you please burn the exe file for Malwarebytes to a CD, and install it that way".how can i install this programme without getting into windows??

hi mi lady and all other helpers,
thanks for the help but ive finally cracked it..yeeeha!!!
all i had to do was enter the bios and change the way it read..e.g.it was reading the hard drive first so i changed it to read cd rom first(so it was able to read my windows disc)and that was that.....so a big thankyou to all that helped especially ladygreenwitch...........thanks
