Default problems:-(

hi,

I have just had some malware removed from my pc with thanks to pancake, however my pc is now running really slow and somethings dont work. for instance. when i click internet explorer it loads IE but does not load the page(google) just stays white.

Also my cd drive is saying it is inaccessible when i click on it.

I know my pc isnt the best model etc but i know it runs better than this can anyone tell me how to sort it?

Oh and when it is in safe mode it seems to work on IE however the cd is still not working?

Matt

Hello Norris,do you have your XP install disk?

I think you should try a repair on your system.

Are you useing IE7?A uninstall from add and remove and a reinstall may help on this issue.

This is utter overkill.

For your disk drives, try this.

Right-Click on the drive w/ the problem
Properties
Recording Tab
and then check the "Enable CD Recording On This Drive" box.

As for your file association woes, go here: http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...ociations.html

Please note there was malware on the computer, wich inturn can cause a little damge to an operating system.

This is utter overkill.
Also please note:I did not say do a recovery I said do a repair instillation.Recovery and repair are two diffrent things.

Recovery:Press R at first prompt.

Repairo not press R at first prompt just leave that alone and just agree to license agreement F8 then press R fro repair after this were promted.

How a repair install is "Utter over kill" I do not know it only replaces damaged files.

Because in all likelihood I have doubts it will fix this. It does not fix file associations, which the majority of this problem is linked to, and it will also probably not fix the problem with his CD drive, because that is related to a setting for the drive itself. What I am saying is that what you are suggesting will have no/little effect whatsoever.

EDIT: I am realising a lot of my posts seem to be coming across (at least to myself) as annoyed. Please do not take them this way, I am merely a guy that is used to getting things fixed quickly and as efficiently as possible.
