Hi all, I have just purchased a Dell Latitude Laptop (D400) form a car boot sale. I am trying to reformat and reinstall windows XP on this laptop, but when I go into the boot menu to reformat and reinstall windows, I am asked for a password. From what I have read this must be the Bios password. I have read countless threads about removing batteries and stuff to reset the bios, but none of this works. I am looking for a 100% GUARANTEED way to get rid of this password so that I can reformat and reinstall windows XP. I am obvioulsy not set as as admin as I ourchased the machine second hand. Please help me.

Remove watch type large battery for two minutes.
Replace battery and reboot you should be able to enter BIOS. Please remove laptop large power battery and charger cord before you do this.
