I've just downgraded my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop from Vista to XP. Now for some reason when I press the @ key I get the " symbol, and when I press the " key, I get the @ symbol. They've swapped places! Does anyone know why? Its really annoying, can I change it back?

You need to change regional settings.

Click start/control panel/Regional and Language Options.

By default, microsoft installs your keyboard with the American layout,and therefore you have to change it to the UK layout. Follow Jelly Bean's instructions above to tell your pc that you are here in the UK and that should resolve the issue.
