Default Problems with my PC!

Hello all. I am having problems with my computer and I'm trying to figure out exactly what is the matter.

I'm running an XP MCE 2003 SP2.

What had happened:

My girlfriend was watching tv shows on my computer while I was at work. When I got home, I hopped on and was watching with her. I clicked one button (view next video) and the computer went blank and moments later restarted. I found it weird. The computer came back to the user login screen for XP. I clicked my name and it came to the desktop and immediately restarted. I turned off the computer and gave it a minute. After turning it back on, it did the same thing. Restarting moments after the desktop appears.

I left the computer off yesterday while I was away on a daytrip and attempted to turn it on today, to which I find no display whatsoever. The computer fires up and you can hear the motherboard beep, but that's about all you get.

Is it the video card? Could the motherboard/chip have overheated?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(Also, I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum. I did not know how to categorize it.)

Yes it sounds like the video died on you. Is it on board video or an adapter card ?

I have an installed card (EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT). I guess I will take it out and see if I have a display then! (though I won't be able to until friday :/)

It was the video card. It was messssed up.

see the attached image... sorry for the quality, it was taken from my blackberry and I think the lens needs some cleaning. several of the components (i don't really know what to call them... the silver jawns...) cracked/exploded and things came out. which you can maybe see a bit in the picture. (the orange-y color on the silver are things that came out/spilled out.

That means its your motherboard not your video card. Those are capacitors, and they puff so to speak when they are stressed
