Default Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage?

I've been having the problem for months and months now and none of my internet providers tech support guru's can seem to figure it out. I have somehow lost the ability to view amazon or ebay... both sites say "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage" I've downloaded countless spyware, AVG, cleaners, etc and nothing seems to help. I've dumped all of the temp files and such, I've tried firefox...that didn't work either. When I ping amazon and ebay i get 127.0.0.1. I can access ebay through an email but not direct and I can access www.ebay.com.au. Amazon I have no luck with, can't access with email or any back door that I've found. Please help

Default Re: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage?

Hello bowers, welcome to PCHF.

- Go to My Computer, and navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
- Double click on hosts and select Notepad as the program to open with.
- Scroll down the list, starting with 127.0.0.1 localhost, and look at any other entries starting with 127.0.0.1 related to ebay or amazon. If you find the entry, delete it and then save the file.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
