You have to create a dual boot.Installing XP onto a hard drive then placing it into a computer is not actualy a dual boot.Unless both were say XP Home or both Pro.

It did not work with vista and XP home as you needed to download bootloader and create a dual boot via editing the boot.ini.

Trying to find a decent link for you to follow but its hard as not a lot of ppl dual boot XP Home and Pro.

Its is difficult but also easy.

You just install XP Home as Pro is already installed but you have to edit the bootloader so it can boot from either OS.

I see no real point in dual boot on home/pro.
