Ram : Geil dual channel ddr2 800 2gb ( 2x1gb)

as u see its not that much bad pc but i dont know why it takes long time to pass load screen on windows XP . i mean the line that moves from left to right under XP logo . it goes about 15-16times from left to right . even when i install a clean version of XP and even when its new without program installed.
i checked some of my friends PC , their pc is like me too only VGA is something else they pass the boot screen in 2-3 moves . my last pc could pass it in 2-3 moves too with 512mb ddr ram and 2.8 pentium 4 CPU but now i have this problem.it annoy me.ive tried XP home or SP1 or SP2 and etc but still this problem.. excuse me if there is already a thread about this problem but im new with forum and posting :S forgive me ..i wait for ur help

Hello Sam and welcome to PCHelpForum.

Reinstalling windows all the time is not the way.

Ok you reninstalled windows?Did you update all your drivers?XP only loads standard drivers to get you up and running.

When did you alst update your BIOS?Do you know if it is latest version?

Could you run CHKDSK on your main hard drive and any slave drive you may have installed.

Unplug any preferals like printers, scanners, external hard drives, anything that is not required for booting.Try a reboot and see if that gives you a quicker bootup.

When was the last time you cleeaned inside your computer? Are all fans spinning and is every cable connected fully inside?

Run this:Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Hi Sam,ok you would have to power off the computer and unplug from the power outlet.

Open up the computer and use a soft bure bristle brush not a manmade fiber one as these contain nylon wich is a conductor. Not good if some fibers get stuck on computer preferals.I need you to gently clean all fans and hardware. You can use a vacum, gently or compressed air to get rid of the dust.

While inside computer tower do not unplug anything, just gently make sure any cables are plugged in fully and not loose.

Run memtest the instructions are there on the link and let me know results.

Do this for CHKDSK:

1.
Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the local disk that you want to check.
2.
Click Properties, and then click Tools.
3.
Under Error-checking, click Check Now.
4.
Under Check disk options, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box.
5.
Click Start.

Let me know if any errors are found and if it fixes any that are found.
