hi all hope you can help me i have had my new pc for about 3 weeks i am loving it but today i was using excel to write a report for my job while downloading winrar, once i was done i noticed my desktop pic had gone white and my pc said virus alert nect to the clock. i now have a balloon asking me for credit card details for spyware removal (pcprivacycleaner) this keep poping up telling me i need to give my details in order to remove the threats. i have a flashing red and white x in my start lists next to clock. if i go to start all my programs list is not there control panel is gone and help and support and run are gone along with a few other in that sort of area of xp.

please can someone suggest a way for me to sort this.
