My problem started a few weeks ago, when my PC suddenly booted after I inserted a game CD in the CD-Drive. This happened a few times after that, and today it happened again. However, this time it kept on booting itself, giving me no chance to actually open the computer, not even in safe mode! Basically it starts just fine with the loading screen, then comes a very quick bluescreen flash and it sends me to the "your computer didn't boot properly" thing...
Some people suggested repair installing on another forum, but this is impossible because whenever I insert a CD in the drive the computer gets stuck and doesn't even read the CD. I also tried removing the CD-drive and then booting it, which didn't work either. The problem isn't with the memory, either, and resetting the BIOS didn't work. (I'm not totally sure whether or not I resetted it right, my motherboard doesn't seem to have jumpers anywhere so I just removed the battery for a couple of minutes and unplugged the power supply).
So, does anyone have any idea whats wrong/how to fix the problem? I really wouldn't want to lose all my files... And I can't format the PC either if it doesn't read a CD.
And if you need more info, just ask, I'm not sure if I made everything totally clear there.

Hi Roope - Welcome to PCHF!!
If you reset the BIOS correctly then you would have been prompted to reset your system date and time when you rebooted it. You should have BIOS reset jumpers but I will need to know the make of model and model of your motherboard to check this. Can you get into BIOS setup options? You said you can't boot off a cd. I am assuming that you have changed the first boot device to CD in the BIOS and that when you press any key to boot off CD when prompted - it freezes. If not this is not the case please let me know. Please let me know whether you can access BIOS and also what make and model your motherboard or pc (e.g. if it's a HP, Dell, etc) in your next post. |

Yeah I can get to BIOS setup options, and you were right about the freezing thing. My motherboard is from Intel, and my pc is a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo T model.
On another forum they asked me to check my condensers, and when I did I found out that one of them seems to be broken (the top of the condenser is bulging). Could this be the reason to everything? If so, would it be possible to replace the broken condenser with one of my old computers condensers? |

It is possible but I wouldn't recommended it. You should take it to an electronics specialist if you want to try that but a new motherboard would most likely be cheaper.
If you try to replace it yourself, you risk damaging the rest of the components in your pc. So if you can't afford to replace the entire pc then it will be cheaper to buy a new motherboard. |

Ahh I see, I'd rather buy a whole new computer then, as I was about to buy one sooner or later anyways... Electronic specialists/new motherboards will cost more than my computer is worth over here in Finland :/
Thanks a lot for the help though ![]() Oh and is there any way I could recover some files, I could try inserting my hard drive into my old computer right? |

Yes, if you put your hard drive into your old computer you will be able to copy the files you want to keep.
Please let me know if you have any problems.
