My computer will not display backgrounds, links and some pictures. The links are there because I can scan the page and my mouse icon will change indicating there is a clickable link but shows no icon. Text will show but is sometimes overlapped and jumbled. I have tried both IE 6 and Fire Fox with pages displaying the same in both.
The computer is a work PC and in an attempt to fix the problem, I.T. staff issued me a new PC but transfered all information and settings from the old PC.
We are behind a firewall but other computers on this network,( In the same office) work fine.
I have reset all settings to default, I've tried reparing IE, I even upgraded to IE7 and still have the same problem.
I suspect that it is a missing file or change within the registry but I have no idea what.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
OP Sys: Windows XP SP2
Firewall: Yes

Welcome to PCHF.
Can you post a snapshot of this problem? Also, is it only happening with browsers? How does your Micorsoft Office look? (if it is a work computer, you must have Office installed!)

I never actually thought about Microsoft Office but yes, Office displays differently than all the other computers. Here are snap shots of Excell and also an internet webpage from my bad PC and also a working PC from the same office.
Thanks |

Since it is happening to both programs, let's check the computer's system files.
Suggest you try this... Place the XP Windows Install CD in the CD drive. Go to the Accessories...Command Prompt enter: sfc /scannow There is a space between "c" and "/". This could take from minutes to hours to run.

Thanks for the info.
Please keep us in the loop whether this fix works or not.
