Unhappy Cannot Install Quick Time

I have a Dell Dimension 8400 running XP Pro with SP3 and I cannot get Quick Time to run. I am told it installed successfully and there's an icon on my desktop, though not on my start menu. If I click the icon, I get an error message with #2093. I had this problem before SP3 was intalled also.

If I try to do something using QT, I get the following error message: QT failed to initialize. Error #0. Please make sure QT is properly installed.

When I click OK, I find another window under the first one that says: The Plug In did not initialize properly.

Can anyone help? I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail. I have gone into Program Files and deleted the QT folder before reinstalling and still I get this message.

Default Re: Cannot Install Quick Time

Hello Ami,

I find most people either can't stand QuickTime, or have problems with it use QuickTime Alternative (it's much more stable IMHO): Free-Codecs.com : QuickTime Alternative 2.6.0 : QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt and other extensions) without having to install the official QuickTime Player.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
