I had a virus that disabled my system restore so I used a back up that I did on 6-08. Since I cannot install SP3. I get the error of "smss.exe is in use by another application, try closing all programs and click retry".

I have closed everything I can, same issue. I have verified that my Background Intelligent Transfer Service is started and set to Auto. Nothing

I renamed the distribution folder to .old and retried, still same issue. I also have 3 security updates that wont install and all have the error code of 0x8007F0F1. The updates are: kb890046, kb932168, kb920213.

I'm out of ideas. Any?????
