Hello I just registered with 'pchelpforum'. Not sure if I'm posting things correctly or not. I have a HP laptop that goes to a starup screen(i.e. safemode, etc) & counts down 30 secs & boots up & comes right back to it.When bypassing it, it goes to the blue screen indicating either it's the hard-drive or the OS(win XP SP2 home).Couldn't repair OS via OS CD.I really need to save the photos. What's the best approach?Do I need to create a bootable CD or is there some other magic?

So far:

We have tried a repair on XP but the press R for repair was missing.

Is now trying to create a bootable CD using Nero 8 once it is downloaded.

Need help on creating this bootable CD.

Also if cannot boot into windows and login needs alternate ways of removing files from hard drive.

Also damage may of been caused via bad shut downs, pulling plug is not a good idea?

No... pulling plug should be absolute last resort.
Sudden power-loss can damage files/ drivers/hardware
If proper shut down does not work--troubleshooting is required to find the cause.

Your CD does not have the Repair Install option-- because it is probably a proprietary HP copy of Windows-- most restore CD's do not allow this option.

You can download/burn a bootable copy of linux...

Cool Solutions: Basics: Can I use a Linux CD to Recover a Crashed Windows Machine?

or... you could physically remove the harddrive from the Laptop-- and put it into another PC --use Windows explorer to recover those files.
Then replace the drive + reinstall Windows.

Nayomal wanted me to give a quick update on situation as he was tired and needed to go to bed. Earlier when nayomal tried to repair with JB, apparently the os partition was gone. Most of the drive was registering as free space not partitioned.

He was also having problems making BartPE disc.

I have recommended to put the hdd into PC and trying to recover data with R-Studio if data is really important. Nayomal wants to try free software first to see what it can recover it so I suggested PC Inspector File Recovery.

Please keep us updated with how it is all going nayomal.

One other thing - you could also try the software in the link below to try to repair the partition. I still recommend getting as much data off the drive first in case it doesn't work. You will also still need to put the hard drive into another pc to use it anyway. Please read the instructions first.
