Default I dont know what to do

okay, I am at my wits end. For hours I have been trying to find something to fix my computer. Damn things less than a week old and i mess it up. Any way I know what caused it and i know how much of a stupid thing it was. Was on limewire and trying to dl music and i was going down the list clicking junk. After, I looked at the completed list and there was an .exe file well my curiousity got the best of me and by comps been haywire ever since. Basicly in my user folder thousands of fake "games" "movies" "other useless junk" have been constantly duplicating themselves. It took me hours to run the virus scan to go through all of them yet there still there, the program didnt read them as viruses. PLEASE HELP ME!

Hello and welcome to PCHF

Firstly I would ask you to uninstall Limewire and any other similar programs before we can help you (See forum Rules)

Secondly click on the Prework link in my signature and follow all the instructions then post back with the relevant logs

Default Re: I dont know what to do

I have done the prework prior to this post, i had posted the logs in a hijackthis thread already, i will do it again though. I was told there is no malware. I still have the problem. oh and i unloaded limewire the second it happened

I have found the folder that all these files are in. it was in a hidden folder in my user directory. c:\user\myname\'\ was the location. currently there are 22,294 files in the folder. They are all random movie names and programs, best way to describe it would be if i had downloaded thousands of files from a torrent site. i cannot delete the folder do to its massive size and when attempting to delete files one by one the recycle bin stays empty and the computer locks up. each file in the folder is anywhere from 1 kb to 114kb. The size of the folder does keep growing as well. They is currently 1.5 GB allocated to said folder. the files are all .zip and many are duplicatinos of themselves. I think thats all i can find out so far...

Hi HelplessFool765 - Welcome to PCHF!

Have you uninstalled Limewire? Please uninstall it if you haven't already.

Have you tried deleting the extra files? I realise it's going to take a considerable amount of time to do so but it's the only way they're going to disappear, short of wiping the disk and reinstalling windows.

Unfortunately you've learned the hard way why P2P file sharing programs (such as Limewire) can be dangerous and therefore are not condoned or supported by PCHF.

If you need help with reformatting and reinstalling Vista please post back. If you decide to delete the files - please post back if they suddenly reappear after you have deleted them.

Default Re: I dont know what to do

i used avg free, it took a day for it to finish and came out to around 300000 threats lol but i believe it worked. Now i wouldnt have a problem reformating or anything, but the problem arises in that i do not have system disks for the laptop. So if someone could help me with that one it would be great
