Default Windows Explorer Disappears

Hi

My problem is that any time I try to open My Computer, My Documents, My Pictures etc, or even try to open the control panel or perform a search the taskbar and all the icons disappear leaving only the desktop background. Sometimes they will re-appear by themselves after a few seconds and other times I have to restart explorer through Windows task manager. Any programs that were open before the taskbar disappeared are still there when it comes back but it still wont let me into any of the folders mentioned above.

I had recently bought an Archos 650 PMP and had downloaded a few programs to help me transfer my DVDs onto it but I have now deleted these and ran full system scans using Norton Anti-virus and Tune-up Utilities. I even downloaded the Malicious Software Removal tool from the Microsoft site but nothing has been able to solve the problem yet.

If anyone has any ideas what might be causing it any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Cameron

Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum

I have 2 things for you to try;

1) Use System Restore to take your PC back to a time before you installed the Archos drivers - if you believe they may be the problem.

2) Click here: http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...1-sfc-exe.html and follow the instructions.
