Windows XP/2000 - "restore active desktop"???? posted in the Operating Systems forums; I just installed a 32" plasma and hooked it up to my pc. everytime i turn on my pc i get the "restore active desktop" wallapaper. Whats the deal? Thanks ...

Default "restore active desktop"????

I just installed a 32" plasma and hooked it up to my pc. everytime i turn on my pc i get the "restore active desktop" wallapaper. Whats the deal?

Hi linkinmylog,

Do you have a wallpaper set for your desktop. One way to stop the error maybe to set a wallpaper. (Right Click Desktop > Properties > Desktop and you can set one there.

yeah everytime i do that it works then when i restart the pc, back to the restore active desktop.

Hey link, can I confirm that the PC is being shut down through the start menu? Also make sure that your using Windows desktop properties rather than any 3rd party desktop management tools.

This should only happen if Windows is not able to save your desktop settings properly on shutdown, for example if the PC was not shut down correctly.

A corrupt profile is another possibility.
