I am trying to use Hiren's BootCD 9.5 . When the system boots up it does not detect my hard drive, it uses the CD drive as drive C:

It is not a fresh install, I am running Windows XP professional. The system boots up fine and everything works as it should. But what I use the boot CD, it does not detect my hard drive. There's nothing new about the system, all the components in it have been together for a couple years.

Any idea why it would do this.

As far as Hiren's Boot CD goes, we do not offer any support for unlicensed/illegal software here at PCHF.

As far as your hard drive not being recognized, it is fairly common for this to happen with different software that specifically look for hard drives. Take Acronis Disk Director for instance, it won't recognize the hard drive on my second computer, even though it is a perfectly good hard drive.

If you suspect your hard drive may be experiencing problems, you can try clicking the corresponding hard drive manufacturer link I have posted in my signature. It will take you to the download page for creating a free diagnostics utility for your hard drive.
