Yessir no disrespect intended-- I guess I was just so shocked that M$ did anything for free... I was momentarily overwhelmed.

What free?

They have to give it free as they released an update that messes peoples computers up.

Ahem... SP2 messed a lot of people's PC's up a lot worse than SP3 has-- and they gave no free tech-support phone number for that...epecially since SP3 has only just recently been "officially" released,
it was a beta until a month ago.

I installed RC1 three months ago and have not had a single problem-- in fact my PC is faster if anything.

also-- SP3 is an update on an operating system that was supposed to be on the scrapheap by now. There have even been petitions... signed by thousands-- asking Microsoft to continue to allow new PC's to be sold with XP on them. Microsoft has even listened-- allowing new PC's to continue to be sold with XP preinstalled on them. Some people have actually paid extra to have Vista removed--and XP installed on their brand-new PC's
Everyone was supposed to have Vista by now... but half the regular customers... including many corporations... have said "no thanks" to that so-called upgrade (myself included)-- more bugs in that thing than a bale of sugar cane on an anthill.

Mmmmm AHEM one could not even turn a pc on 2 years ago.lol.So not sure of what SP2 did to a computer as in creating problems back then.

Microsoft should give it free they making enough cash with Vista. They closed there free chatroom wich I must say was a total let down on there part.

Just stating they should give free support and about time to.

Ok --I'll buy that -- Let's just say that Microsoft has never been famous for their generosity with tech-support of any kind-- they used to charge $39.95 per "incident" a few years ago (for telephone support) after the 1st year of ownership of an OS-- I know... in my early days-- I had a big problem... and when I found out what they charged-- I said " I'll figure it out myself".... and I've been doing just that ever since.

That's how I got to be here -- I'm too "thrifty" (read cheap)--to pay someone else to fix something I can fix myself.
It's also how all the 'help-forums' out there got started...people had problems, called up tech-support, said WHAT?? are you out of your mind ?? --and banded together to share their knowledge... after they hung up the phone.
