Default Windows XP Shutdown Problem

I have a computer running Windows XP SP3 and it seems to have a problem with shutting down. Well this problem has been occuring for a while now and I have just started to try and fix it.

Basically, when I shut down my PC all the programs shut down ok and then the blue windows screen comes up with "Saving your settings...", which seems to go ok because it goes onto the next on "Windows is shutting down...", then the PC will just sit there for about 2 minutes before eventually shutting down.

I have looked on other websites and tried possible solutions, such as "Terminal Services" and changing registry value that relate to the Timout of an application, but no avail.

Can you help? Thanks

Suggest you download and install this program (it's free) CCleaner ... Alternative Download.
1. After installing...run the program...click on Analyzer...then click on Run Cleaner.
2. On the left side of the window, click on Registry...click on Scan for issues...click on Fix selected issues.

This program will cleanup your temp files and cookies which could be interfering with your computer shutting down.
