While installing a new version of defender pro, I lost all of my folder icons. I am running 2000 pro, but don't have the cd. How can I restore them?? Thanks

Hello fpslim, welcome to PCHF.

Do you mean all of your desktop icons? If so, right click on your desktop, go to Arrange Icons By followed by Show Desktop Icons.

No, my desktop is fine, it's my folder icons that are invisible. If I click view, folders, it will show me my list of folders to the left, whether it's in my control panel or document folders in My Documents, so they are there, but no icons are visible.

Hey fpslim, can you provide a screenshot of what your seeing (instructions on my signature), I'm not completely sure what your looking at there. I know that the installation of Defender would not have caused this, but we need to find out what did.

Sorry, MM. No go. I didn't get the paste option, and I tried to "paste from" using the prn file I created, but the paint page was blank. It showed the file as being open, and gave me option to save, but there was no image.

Hey fpslim, you've done it before on PCHF, I'm sure you can do it again. You did press the [Print Screen] button? Maybe ask you daughter to help you out like she did before?

Perhaps you have me confused with someone else, as I have never posted a screenshot here. Regardless, after using the print screen key, I do not get the paste option in Paint. So perhaps I can't show you what I'm seeing but I can easily describe it: The only thing I can see in my folders is a small faint square with a dot in the middle. This is located in the upper left hand corner of the screen. It looks like a single die rolled to the number 1
