Cant install XP
Hey PCHF I just bought a Compaq laptop with Vista on it and i want to downgrade it to XP but whenever i try to install XP the setup cant find the harddrive. is this some method compaq uses to stop people formating? Cheers

Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.
Firstly you cannot downwgrade from Vista to XP. Does the hard drive showup in BIOS/Setup? Also before you try to format this to XP are the drivers available to install for this machine to run XP?

Yes the drivers are availablke and i am trying to format and then install xp not install xp through vista.
yes the drive shows up in bios just not in the windows xp setup. Cheers

Drivers are available?Good.
Download drivers first for XP and put to floppy/CD/DVD.Saves time. You can create a dual boot? Is this what you are trying to do?
