Default XP won't allow copy from CD

I wiped my hdd & reinstalled XP & win explorer freezes when I try to copy from a CD. I changed ribbon & cd player. Changed motherboard, wiped hdd & reinstalled XP again. Still can't copy from CD to hdd. Changing to PIO in device mgr. doesn't help. I'll pay $20 for a solution.

Have you tried grab and drop from CD to a file on XP?

Open my computer then either explore or open the CD rom drive while disk is in the rom drive.

Grab n drop or right click and copy then paste else were?

Are you using a burning/ripping software?
