Default Windows XP HELP?!

Ok, so my Dad recently did a System Restore and went back by only 1 (ONE) day. When it was done he rebooted his computer, now to our supprise all the File Folders were still on the desktop (THIS IS GOOD), but none of the files that were origionally in those folders are there (THIS IS REALLY ****ING BAD , AS THEY ARE BUISNESS FILES).

So, does anyone know where the files may have gone or how to get them back?!?!?!

Welcome to PCHF

What were the files? Have you carried out a system-wide search for them?

Mostly .doc's and .xml's and yeah I tried a *.doc and *.xml search using the advanced search feature in windows.

Try using this tool to search for the deleted files: http://www.aumha.org/downloads/restoration.exe

You could also try using a program like Free Undelete Utility Recovers Deleted Files, Unerases Lost Data to search your disc for deleted files. You may then be able to retrieve them.

TuneUpUtilities also has a similar feature which is very good. It is not free, but there is a FREE 30-day trial with ALL features available.

Hengis agrees: Also a good tool - thanks for posting that.
