Every time at startup, I get this black flicker that lasts about 2-3 seconds. After that, everything is fine. Everything is functioning okay. I guess it's more of an annoyance if anything. I've tried defragmenting to see if that would help, but to no avail. Again, any ideas as to why this might be happening? Also, I have my WinXp Setup disk with me and was wondering if there was a way to make sure all Windows files are intact and where they should be? example: some sort of scan I can do?

Hello,this flicker happens to many computers.Although it proberly is not a probem with hardware or software.It can just be caused by hardware/software kicking in and connecting.
Unless this becomes a great problem I would not worry about this.
I get the windows logo then quickly a black screen flickers on and off with windows logo back.

Some of the other techs may have a diffrent opinion,I agree it is annoying at times.

Or is it more like a monitor problem?Do you get any white or coloured lines or squares on the screen?If no then I would say not to worry.

well, it doesnt do this on boot....but actually on the desktop, sorry I should of been more clear

Hey you,no this dont seem normal when desk top is loading.Could you just check that your monitor cable that goes to your GPU is firmly pushed in and screws are done tightly.

This may just be a loose cable or maybe check inside that nothing is loose and your card and cables are firmly pushed in.

its gfx drivers fully initializing seen this on various machines and nothing to worry about
