Default [Fixed] Does SP3 need 1G RAM?

I called a service guy to fix some youtube/flash problems on a Dell Dimension. He said I need to upgrade from the 512MB RAM that's currently on it or I would still have problems and some programs would not run after SP3 is on. Is this true? I can't find any mention of it on MS web or with google.

Hello and welcome to PCHF

Your PC will benefit overall if you upgrade to 1gb of ram and i believe what he meant about SP3 was that some programs may be incompatible with SP3 to start with, this has nothing to do with the amount of ram in the PC

I do not think that is correct according to M$HQ the only system requirements are xpsp2 nothing about extra ram.Extra ram would not hurt however and there is always a chance some software will not work after an install of a service pack

Right now Flash does not work and cannot view youtube videos although the audio for the video comes on. Could both of these be a video card problem? Some videos, like CNN, do work.

Also try Ccleaner CCleaner - Download download then run this and it will remove a load of temporary files and other junk from the system that may be causing problems
