Billy to be honest a reinstall of the OS and reinstall of all drivers could cure the problems.

To reinstall XP would I need to wipe the HD or could I just stick the disc in and go again?

Re: the driver installs, do you mean ALL drivers for EVERYTHING?

Yes all drivers would have to be reinstalled.To make driver install quicker I would download them all first then put to disk,floppy,USB pendrive.

Reboot computer enetr BIOS/Setup by pressing either F1,F2,Del wich ever you are prompted to press to enter setup.
Set first boot device to CD/DVD rom put in OS diskF10 save and exit and follow the instructions.

You will be promted to boot from CD/DVD rom,hit any key to boot from CD/DVD rom.Then do this.

You will be asked at some stage again to boot from CD/DVD rom then do NOT do this.

Do not create any more partitions just install on the one thats there.

Before you do this any data you need to save put to disk,floppy,USB pen drive or external HDD.

This will wipe off all data and give you a fresh install of XP.This will also rid you of any infections.

So when you say it'll wipe off all data, you mean everything or just the XP stuff?

If it's just the XP stuff I don't have to worry about any other programs disappearing?

A reformat will wipe ALL files/folders/programms/installed software off.
So backup everything you need.
Book mark your favs and send book mark to your external.

Hi Bigbillybagel,

Can you please do the following:

Click Start > Run

Type: Regedit

Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_Classes_Root\CLSID\{98AC533-EE18-BE25-3B16EE8F75F1}\usnjsvc

On the right you will see display name. Please post back what is written in the data field for display name.
