Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

Open your web page and click on tools/internet option/connections.

Set this to never dial a connection.

Also click on advance tab and see what is set there for opening tabs in new page/browser etc.

Or your wife will have to logon and change these settings if she is admin.

Hi thanks for your quick reply!
I get the Error 678 does that sound familiar to you?
I did check the connection an it is exactly set up on mine as on my wives.

My ISP is ticked but says Disconnected (WAN Miniport(PPPOE)

Lan or High Speed Internet 1394 Connection Connected 1394 Net Adapter
Local Area Connection Connected Generic Marvell Yukon Chipset

Thanks

Your welcome.

Try this link:You may receive Error 678 or Error 769 when you try to connect to the Internet or when you try to browse the Internet after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2

It looks like this problem about screen hanging up is only when using Internet Explorer.I just tried Firefox and there seem to be no problem at all.

Again thanks very much and I will use Firefox from now on and don`t bother with Internet Explorer.

Regards Guenter
