Default [Fixed] what to backup

Hi to my distinguished friends,
I am hoping that someone can assist me with a real dumb question.
I have Windows XP Home SP2 edition with NTFS files. 190 gigabytes hard drive and 2 megabytes of memory.
I have no idea what to backup to a DVD. I backed up using the XP (yes on Home edition)
and I got 2.4 Gigabytes of backup for my trouble. This is far too big to transfer to a DVD. I tried Acronis 9 and it told me that I had a damaged partition--now I must buy a new HD.
Before I can change the HD I obviously should have a backup. I have a Vaio computer which does not come with the XP home CD---rather a Recovery CD only.
If someone could me advise please, I would be grateful
Thanks and regards

I don't know too much about the whole backup thing but I do know that 2.4 GB should fit easily onto a DVD. A DVD can hold up to 4.7 GB.

Regards,
Adam

Hi Adam
Thanks for the reply.
I think I put in a CD in, rather than a DVD. You are 100% correct about the space on a DVD, Stupid me!!!
Thanks again
Regards

You're not stupid.. everyone makes little mistakes here and there.

No problem, marked as fixed.
