Default Cant move, use, delete files/folders after moving them

Hi,

If you can help me with this i will be your slave forever.
I have windows xp, service pack 2.
Since awhile now, evreytime I move a file or a folder in my computer I cant use it anymore, or move it again or delete it.
If I try to move it it says :"cannot move... make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use", if i try to play it ; "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct".

Now the thing is i dont want to delete them I want to use them.

I downloaded process explorer, as someone instructed me, clicked control f ,and while trying to use the file i write the name of the file yet nothing comes up.

try booting into safe mode and moving / using the files, if you can then that means there is a process that is trying to access them and tying them up, its a matter of figuring out what is, try safe mode and let me know if that works

Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

Have you tried checking ijn properties if they are set as private or read only?

Have you stopped sharing on these files?

Ok,could you try a system restore to before this started happening.

I think you should do this pre-work to rule out any infections:http://www.pchelpforum.com/hijackthi...a-prework.html

In safe mode, log in as administrator and check the security properties of one of the files in question. You do that by clicking properties and the security tab. Make sure your userid is allowed all the necessary rights to the file.
If you don't have the administrator password for this operation, get someone that does to do the procedure for you
