Default [Pending] Hibernate & Standby facility no longer available.

Have Toshiba laptop M60-124.80Gb HD + 80Gb USB HD. Win XP Home + SP2.
I upgraded the RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb. Before this the Hibernate/Standby facilities
worked OK and I used them often. Now it's 'greyed' out.
A so-called 'fix' didn't! The new RAM is OK. Registry is OK
Quite a few users have reported this problem.
Grateful for any help.

Hi Pete and welcome to PCHF, have you taken a look at this article from Microsoft help >The computer occasionally does not hibernate and you receive an "Insufficient System Resources Exist to Complete the API" error message in Windows XP with Service Pack 2, in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, or in Windows XP Media Center Edition 200 it contains a hotfix for curing this problem
