Hi Ellen,
I think I'm missing a peice of the puzzle here
Many youtube movies use the mp3 compression format within their movies and you can play mp3's, so it would leave it with a codec problem, so the above should have fixed it, so I think it's best if we go over everything just in case we've missed something. Just to go over the volume one more time to be sure, and hopefully sort the midi problem along the way.
- First of all, if you haven't already, open up one of your sound or video files in Media Player and make sure that the volume bar at the bottom right hand corner is up.
- Go to
My Computer, Control Panel, Sound and Audio Devices.
- Click on the
Advanced button, and go to
Options followed by
Properties, and make sure all device controls are ticked. Press
OK and then make sure that all volume bars are up.
- Back to "Sound and Audio Devices", click on the
Audio tab, at the bottom you will see "MIDI music playback", make sure a device is selected from the dropdown box.
- Back to "Control Panel", click on
System, Hardware tab,
Device Manager. Under "Sound Game and Video Controllers", can you list what drivers you have here, and can you see any drivers with exclaimation or question marks against them?
