I did an upgrade from Win 98 SE to XP. When I restarted computer I went through the login screens etc to set up pc. Now however, my pc doesn't show control panel on the start menu and it won't let me change settings. It seems I am not the administrator anymore or something. Since I can't access control panel I can't change the type of account user or anything. How can I change it so that my computer will let me change things like wallpaper and such? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you do a clean upgrade over writing everything?
When you upgraded did you keep same settings/files/passwords/etc?

Did overwrite. Wasn't a login screen came up before. Think I put in Optiplex for account name. Redid install again and just put nothing in for login name; just hit enter with no information entered.

Hi did you use upgrade disk or full install disk?

Disk is for upgrade only, just followed instructions on the screen. took long enough to be a full install though.

Hi can you try a repair instillation?

Set BIOS first boot CD rom.

Put in xp disk F10 save and exit.

When you are first prompted to press R do not do it continue on press F8 to agree to license agreement then press R after that.When prompted.
