MadMonkey
I went and looked up Kingston and Crucial and the prices are about the same. Around 42.00 for 2GB.
They must be higher where you are.
The only thing that I don't under stand is when Crucial scaned my pc to see what I needed they said that my motherboard is model K2BC51G/PV . But on the motherboard is K2BC51 LF will this make a problem for when they scaned my old gateway they came up with what was on the motherboard.

Well they both seem to support the same memory types:

240pin DDR2 SDRAM
Frequency: PC2-4200, PC2-5300, or PC2-6400
Error Detection Support: Non-ECC only
Module Types Supported: Unbuffered only

Is this what you were looking at getting? But it looks like that board has a total of 4 banks, supporting a maximum of 4gb, so your better off with individual 1gb chips (2x 1gb).

Hey Pirky,

"Unexpected Interrupt-Halting" is a serious memory corruption error, normally means that there was too many errors for memtest to complete it's testing, however, it's not quite what I was hoping for, as it hasn't really narrowed the problem down that much. If it was faulty memory for certain, you would have had a list of failing memory addresses highlighted in red? If not, then as well as faulty memory, even though memory is still the most likely candidate, could have been caused by a number of other factors, failing motherboard - ram slot, or one known possible cause to that particular error (fingures crossed) is an incorrect BIOS setting.

Let's rule this one out first, because it's a nice easy one, that doesn't cost anything to look at. Can you go into your BIOS, first of all reload your BIOS failsafe default settings and try using memtest again. If that doesn't work, can you look around for your DRAM clock speed setting, and tell me what it is set to?
