Windows XP/2000 - [Resolved] Service Pack 2-3 problem posted in the Operating Systems forums; Accidental double post - page says cannot find page on submit, yet it made it to the forum......
This may well be related to my SP2-3 problem, but I'm not sure... I have a new version of a program that requires me to uninstall the old before installing the new one. I went to add/remove, selected remove, and Uninstaller Error said - 'An error occurred whil trying to uninstall, the program may have already been uninstalled'. I thought this funny, since that's what it said when I went to uninstall SP3. I tried hitting remove on ALL my programs in add/remove programs, and EVERY TIME this error response shows up. Anyone seen or fixed this one before?
I've done all that per the other post - I guess maybe I shoulda kept it to 1 post afterall... Could you check out the other one and advise, please? Thanks - Shep
SP3 IS GONE!!! SP3 IS GONE!!! SP3 IS GONE!!! SP3 IS GONE!!!
I don't know if this is sticky worthy or not, BUT...
I finally found out how to uninstall SP3. Even when Add/Remove programs won't do it. Even when you mess up and run System Restore before you uninstall it.
C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\uninst\
In this folder is a .exe for service pack 3 uninstall. Worked when nothing else would.
If I remember right, when I installed SP3 it gave me an option to create an uninstall, I believe this is that option.
A BIG THANKS TO ALL who stepped to to work on this on my behalf - i appreciate it very much, Shep
