You most likely have heaps of data in the my documents folder of the slow profile. The reason it loads quicker with the newly created profile is because that user doesn't have any files in my docs yet.
If you have heaps of files in your my documents your pc will take longer to load into windows. To speed it up make folders on directly on the C:\ drive and put your music, movies, and any other big files like game patches, etc in there. I've been out to some clients who have over 160g of movies and music, etc sitting in my docs and wonder why their pc's are so slow. Another thing you can do is empty out the prefetch folder. To do this go to C:\Windows\Prefetch Delete all the entries in there. Last edited by DIIRE; 03-07-2008 at 12:36 AM. |

I read this problem, and my pc also starts up slowly, so I deleted C:\Windows\Prefetch
hope this won't crash my PC

Also if you have a lot of desktop icons it will add to the loading time.

As long as only you only deleted the entries in prefetch as per my post and not the prefetch folder itself you should be fine. Deleting the items in prefetch does not make your pc run faster it only makes it boot quicker. For example if you delete winword from prefetch your Microsoft Word will load slower the next time you fire it up.
(btw thank-you upgrader - forgot to mention desktop) |
