Hi bigjsommers, welcome to PCHF.
It sounds like a codec problem, please download this codec pack and install it http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Codec-Packs-Video-Codecs/KLite-Mega-Codec-Pack.shtml

Matt

I have almost the same problem, and already have that codec pack installed.

I get a picture but its very scrambled. I can't play any AVI, MP4 or DVD's at the moment. Some video sites don't work either, however youtube is fine.

I have tried everything, I've even reformatted my PC, but nothing has resolved the problem.

Any ideas ??

It gets slightly more confusing I have a video training course which basically plays avi files through its own player. They seem to work fine through its own player, but not through windows media player.

The problems occur in Windows media player, media player classic, Winamp and VLC player.

Sound is fine, and when playing music all of the visual stuff looks fine.

The video files i am playing worked last week.

I seem to of resolved my problem by changing the acceleration in the display settings, I have attatched a picture to show you where I did it.

Does this point to a hardware problem ? I have reinstalled the driver a few times, but that didn't work.

Will reducing the acceleration cause any other issues ?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Wilksy, welcome to the site. I think your post got missed as you tacked it onto the end of another thread..nm, it sounds as tho you have fixed it now

The acceleration reduction shouldn't have an effect on anything except more graphics intensive programs such as games - test them (if you use them) and see if they are effected.
