Default [Resolved] Access denied

Ok so my original issue was Windows Media Player not adding files to library like it should...I've tried everything I could from google searches on the same issue and nothing has worked for me...so NOW I'm trying a different approach. I'm going to make a new user account (I have windows XP SP2) that has the administrative setting and transfer all my files over to the new one...because WMP works fine on there...and it seems to be just smoother starting fresh, etc. Anyway...I put all the files I want to keep on my old account in a folder called "EVERYTHING" and when I put it on the desktop of my NEW account (it being the EVERYTHING folder) it gives me an access denied error. I did further google research as usual on how to get around it, and the only solution I've found (which has failed) was to reboot in safe mode, and go into the folder I'm trying to access in an admin account and change the security settings, etc. That just gave me an error of giving me the option to send the report to MS...so is there ANY OTHER WAY to permit my new account access to this folder?

EDIT: Okay so I've just found out about this Shared Documents folder thing.....if I were to just put my files in there...and deleted the old account....would everythign work just peachy?

Hello Veetus,

I have a perfect solution for you. This solution won't require you to modify any settings.

Log in to the old profile. Create a folder in the root folder...aka C:\ So something like C:\Everything

You can do that by opening My Computer, open the C:\, right click on a blank area, click new, then click folder. Call it whatever you want. Then while you're in your old profile, just copy and paste everything into that folder. You can even go in that "Everything" folder and make subfolders to organize it all like Music, Video, Documents, Downloads, etc.

Any folders in the root folder can be accessed by any user. You can also make a shortcut to that folder in the Documents and Settings/All Users/Desktop folder. Then a link to that folder will be seen on any user account you made. It's the user account folders that have blocked access for other users for the obvious reason of different users wanting privacy.

Hope that helps!
