Please redirect me if I am in the wrong place because I have no idea where my problems lie. Thanks
I was feeling like my computer was bogged down and I was afraid I may still have issues with viruses since I had dealt with them in the past. I tried to do a system restore and the earliest system checkpoint I had was for November 9. I tried that and it simply said no 'changes were made'. I tried again for November 10, this time it said 'unable to restore.' I have no idea why this was but i decided to clean up my computer a bit by deleting some unused programs and even a couple windows components that I dont use. I also deleted unused desktop icons. After doing this and rebooting, my screen looked weird. It kind of looked like it was in safemode but not so bad. The fonts were very wide and large. The windows were all stretched out wide. Even the desktop image that used to be centered was now filling the whole screen. When i scrolled down in Word, Adobe, or IE my screen doesnt scroll fluidly, it kind of flashes which is really annoying. I tried adjusting the settings in display and I was able to make the font more manageable but still very stretched out. Webpages are now too big to view in my screen which is 17'' widescreen. When I go to shut down my computer, I am no longer able to click on Standby. It still shows up but it is faded and I cannot click on it or Hibernate. I also must have deleted components to certain programs that I shouldnt have because when I start up I get barraged with windows saying they found new hardware or a certain program needs to install something from a CD I dont have. So this leads me too a few specific questions...
Why can't I restore if it shows that I have multiple system checkpoints?
How have I affected the appearance of so many different programs and how do I get it back to normal?
How do I make it so I can go into Standby or Hibernate Mode?
How do I fix my problems with these programs that are asking for missing pieces? (Sonic Digital Media is one example)
