Hello.
My friend has a Lenovo laptop with WinXP he wanted to create another user account on the PC. If we create another account it works great but if we try to add a password to the new account, it will not accept the password???
I tried everything small letter, CAPS, numbers, CAPS and numbers, we tried "12345678", nothing works.
If we create a new account without a password the new account works fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you get any errors at all, when trying to add a password?

When I add the password I get no error, everything looks like it will work good but when we logoff and logon again that’s when it will not accept the password.
A message will popup and it says “did you forget your password?”
But , I am using the correct password.

Ok what i would do is restart your PC and tap F8 then use the arrow keys on your keyboard to select Safe Mode. Logon as the Administrator account and delete the account that you are having problems with. Restart into normal mode and go here to download ccleaner: CCleaner - Download install it and then run it, also running the registry cleaner provided as well. Restart the machine and then re create the account again.

I'm sorry I should have mentioned that he already has an administrator account with no password on the PC.
We are just trying to add a second account with a password.
The first account named SAM has no password when we add a 2nd(new) account
named DONNA the account works great, but when we add a password to the 2nd (new) account DONNA, it does not accept the new password. ????

I already did as you said "delete and recreate the new account." The new password still will not work
I also ran Microsoft’s version of disk cleanup and also AVG and Ad-aware. It still does the same thing.
I will downlaod CCleaner and give it another go.

I ran CCleaner and and then deleted the account in safe mode
But it still does not work.
