Hi everyone. I`m running XP Pro Service Pack 3 and it is going ok. But when I purchased my computer a few months ago, it shows that I have a drive *A* which I can clearly see I don`t have. I want to delete this drive or just remove it altogether since it shows in My Computer. I went to the place where you can remove a partition or logical drive but it doesn`t show up there. Only Drive C shows there. Why does it show up in My Computer and how can I remove it. I only have one disk drive in front of the computer tower and it`s *D* Drive CD/DVD. Drive A is usaly your floppy drive,do you have a floppy drive fitted in ya pc?

C is your main hard drive.

D/E is usaly cd/dvd rom

It shows that I have an A drive in My Computer but I can clearly see that I don`t have one. There is a flap in front of the computer for one to be installed if needed but it`s empty. There is absolutely no *A* drive installed (or floppy 3 1/2). Why does it show one in the *My Computer* properties when I open My Computer??? Thanks for your reply.

it`s all written with my signature. There isn`t a floppy drive in there. I called the guy who built the computer and told him it showed a floppy drive he says he doesn`t know why cause one is not installed. There are a couple of flaps in front of the tower but you can`t open them. They are just there in case I wanted to install another drive. I know the *D* drive is a CD/DVD drive. I stated that in my first post. I just want to delete the information about the non existing *A* drive since I`m sure one is not installed. Thanks for your reply.

ok do this,click start then go to my computer and right click on it scroll down to properties open properties then click on hardware tab then go to device manager.you can right click in there and click uninstall on A drive.
