Default [Resolved] Changing Volume ID on C://

First of all should tell you guys that I'm not trying to do something illegal. I was banned from an game mistakenly by an automated banning system, I spoke to the administrators of the game and they told me that I should change my volume id to fix the problem (apparently it bans the volume id of people, because IPs can be easily changed). Their directions are very poor and rarely work, so I've come to my favorite troubleshooting forum for help .

First of all I found this page made by microsoft:

VolumeID v2.0

and downloaded the software. After clicking on the application, I went to command prompt and entered the following, as instructed by the webpage:

Code:
C:\>volumeid <c:> ****-*** (I actually placed a id here)
Access is denied.
I even tried under safe mode through the administrator and got the same result.
What should I do?

I found out to do it, thanks to all the people who viewed this thread.

For archival purposes this is how I did it:

1. Extract volumeid.exe into your c drive..
2. Run the volumeid.exe and it should flash on and off.
3. Go to start > run and type in cmd
4. type C:\volumeid c: XXXX-XXXX (put an actual id in this location)
5. Press the Enter key.
6. Restart computer.
