Default BSOD after memory upgrade

I have a TOSHIBA Equium P200 Laptop with 1GB (2 x 512mb) memory, I thought that this was not sufficient for my laptop and therefore upgraded it to PC4200 2GB (2 x 1GB).

Now, I have a dual boot on my laptop with Windows Vista and then Windows XP, and this is where the problem arises. When I boot up into XP, I get a BSOD error (either at the login screen or just after i have logged on), saying something about igxprd32 and a STOP error. I will attached the minidump in a minute.

Now, when I put one of the 1GB sticks into the slot, it works. I then but in the other one (on its own) and it worked. I combined one of the 512mb with the 1GB and it worked. Its just when I put in both of the 1GB that I get this error.

I have an Intel 945GM chipset with all the latest drivers, and I discovered that if I disable the display adapter drivers, it works.

Can anyone shed a light on this problem?
Thanks in advance...

ArcticWolf

EDIT: I forgot to add that this 2GB RAM works in my Windows Vista OS and the fact that on the TOSHIBA website, the maximum memory I can put in this laptop is 2GB, but is it possible that the graphics adapter is adding to this memory to take it over its limit?

Hello Arctic Wolf, welcome to PCHF.

Your intel graphics does share some of that memory, which is normally configurable through your BIOS. I've checked over your BSOD log, and it's a graphics driver problem. Downloading the latest graphics drivers from here should resolve your problems: Download Software, Drivers and Utilities Filters

Thanks for your reply (and the welcome lol)!

Downloaded the drivers and installed them, and still the same problem occurs. I have checked my bios and even though it tells me how much "system memory" is used, I cant change it. I have checked online and found that loads of people have problems with the file igxprd32.dll.

Any ideas?

Hey Arctic,

I'm am absolutely 100% sure it's the driver. It shows quite clearly in those logs, and have fixed many other PC's with the same problem. It's also shows in their release logs as 'fixed': Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver

Can you post another dump file to make sure you don't have more than one problem there, and also confirm your driver version, by going to My Computer, Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, followed by Device Manager. Under the category of "Display adaptors", right click on your graphics card and go to Properties, followed by the Driver tab. Can you tell me the Driver Version?
