madmonkey: I guess I'll have to re-install windows again like you said before, being a different model MB?

You'll be better off with a fresh install-- even if it would work (almost never does)-- and it will be more stable in the long run.
First thing Windows Setup says is "checking hardware configuration"
Then every time it boots-- it looks for that config.

Ok, right-e-o. I thought it might be better to re-install. What a faff on it is though, having to re-install all my programs.

Speaking of which, I currently have MS Office installed on partition D:\ instead of the C:\ (due to the last re-install problem and losing loads of e-mails in Outlook.)
Will I be able to leave it there and then just link to the exe files once everything has been re-installed?

Hey Pete, if only it was that easy.

When these applications are installed, they are not only installed in the folder/drive you select, but key system files are installed in specific locations such as your windows\system32 folder, as well as important registry settings. It's possible to do this with a few certain very small applications that don't need to do this, but with Microsoft Office it's next to impossible. You need to install these from scratch too.

******!! Oh well, I'll just print off all the mails I want to keep.

PC's eh?

Aslong as all this fixes it I'll be happy. Ordered that MB should get it tomorrow, once I get everything I need ready I'll get it installed and post back the results.

Thanks again guys.

Hey Pete,

If your using Outlook Express, you can just drag your e-mails straight from your outlook inbox to a folder/drive (like files), and then do the same when you want to import them again.

Hey Pete-- there are many ways to backup Outlook emails-- but it is version-dependent... you should be able to back 'em up to disc-- then reimport once you have installed / got everything right again.

Backup emails in Outlook - Google Search
