Default Winamp + All Media playing Lag/CPU Holdups

Just recently (as in the past hour) my media players, winamp & WMP have begun lagging horrendously. It uses up most of my CPU, and distorts and skips and lags whenever I play anything (Music, Movies... anything!) This is highly frustrating

I did have the K-lite codec pack installed, so that I could watch my MKV format HD Shows through WMP, but I just installed it to see if that was the problem, and it was not. I am currently doing a full system virus and spyware scan, to see if that might be the issue, as my entire computer has been acting strangely recently...

If there is any info I can give you guys... let me know, and thanks for reading!

PS I know its early but I have a weird schedule ^_^

Default Re: Winamp + All Media playing Lag/CPU Holdups

Well, this happens to me too, due to my crappy CPU and RAM but what I do to fix this is I set the winamp (or other media) process to Above Normal using the task manager and it seems to stop lagging, etc. This can make your system a little unstable, but to do this, press CTRL + ALT + DEL. Click the processes tab and select winamp.exe (or other process), right click, Set Priority and select AboveNormal.

Regards,
Adam
